Захід зібрав представників місцевої влади, цивільного захисту, територіальних громад на базі Головного управління Державної служби України з надзвичайних ситуацій у Черкаській області.
З вітальними словами виступили Петро Павличенко, координатор проєктів Лісової служби США в Східній Європі, Плахотній Антон Юрійович, полковник служби цивільного захисту, та Тимочко Тетяна Валентинівна, голова Всеукраїнської екологічної ліги.
Під час конференції було презентовано результати проєкту «Створення системи протипожежного захисту лісів» за підтримки Лісової служби США, а також показано мотиваційне відео «Об’єднані для захисту лісів України від пожеж».
Учасники обговорювали екологічні наслідки лісових пожеж, навчальні програми для добровільних пожежників та роль інформаційно-просвітницької роботи з населенням. Особливу увагу приділили Аналізу вжитих заходів –професійному обговоренню події, яке сфокусоване на стандартах діяльності, дає змогу дослідити – що сталося, чому це сталося, як підтримувати сильні сторони, як виправити слабкі.
Сервіси прогнозування надають керівникам служб з надзвичайних ситуацій інформацію для: підтримки рішень, розробки довгострокових та короткострокових стратегічних планів, очікування значної пожежної активності та визначення потреб у розподілі ресурсів, ефективного інформування про надзвичайні ситуації державних службовців та громадськості
Практична частина включала демонстрацію роботи пожежної машини та тренування для місцевих громад, що дало змогу учасникам отримати корисний досвід.
Конференція стала важливим кроком до зміцнення безпеки громад та захисту природних екосистем від пожеж.

Conference «Supporting community resilience and emergency response for local decision makers» ( Cherkasy)
On October 24, 2024, a conference/training «Supporting Community Resilience and Emergency Response for Local Decision Makers» was held, dedicated to important issues of community security and emergency response. The event brought together representatives of local authorities, civil protection, and territorial communities at the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Cherkasy Oblast.
Welcoming remarks were made by Petro Pavlychenko, Project Coordinator of the US Forest Service in Eastern Europe, Anton Plakhotny, Colonel of the Civil Protection Service, and Tetyana Tymochko, Head of the All-Ukrainian Environmental League.
During the conference, the results of the project «Creation of a public forest fire protection system in Ukraine» with the support of the US Forest Service were presented, and a motivational video «United to Protect Ukraine's Forests from Fire» was shown.
Participants discussed the environmental impact of forest fires, training programs for volunteer firefighters, and the role of public outreach. Particular attention was paid to the After Action Analysis – a professional discussion of the event focused on performance standards allows us to explore what happened, why it happened, how to maintain strengths, and how to correct weaknesses.
Forecasting services provide emergency managers with information to emergency managers with information to: support decisions, develop long-term and short-term strategic plans, anticipate significant fire activity and determine resource allocation needs, and effectively communicate emergencies to civil servants and the public
The practical part included a demonstration of a fire truck and training for local communities, which allowed participants to gain useful experience.
The conference was an important step towards strengthening community safety and protecting natural ecosystems from fires.
