Добровільні пожежні дружини відіграють ключову роль у локальній системі пожежної безпеки, особливо в сільських громадах і поблизу лісових масивів. Вони часто першими прибувають на місце загоряння, можуть оперативно локалізувати пожежу до прибуття професійних підрозділів, а також проводять профілактичну роботу серед населення.
Ефективність таких команд значною мірою залежить від лідерів, які:
• згуртовують колектив і формують довіру в команді;
• мотивують до відповідальної та безпечної поведінки;
• забезпечують координацію дій у критичних ситуаціях.
У межах проєкту «Створення громадської системи протипожежного захисту лісів в Україні», який Всеукраїнська екологічна ліга реалізує за підтримки Міжнародної програми Лісової служби США (U.S. Forest Service International Programs), особливу увагу ми приділяємо саме підтримці та зміцненню добровільних пожежних дружин у громадах.
Лідери добровільних пожежних дружин — це ключова ланка у формуванні стійкої, здатної до оперативного реагування системи громадської безпеки, що забезпечує ефективний захист людей, майна та природного середовища.
Leadership is the foundation of effective wildfire response
Wildfire suppression is a complex and hazardous process that requires swift decision-making, coordinated teamwork, and clear communication. In this field, leadership is not merely about management — it is the art of engaging with people to achieve a shared goal: protecting lives, ensuring community safety, and preserving the environment.
Volunteer fire brigades play a vital role in the local fire safety system, particularly in rural areas and near forested landscapes. These teams are often the first to arrive at the scene of a fire, capable of containing the blaze before professional responders arrive. They also engage in preventive outreach and are deeply familiar with local conditions, allowing for rapid and effective action.
The success of such teams largely depends on strong leadership — individuals who:
• unite and build trust within the team;
• motivate others to act responsibly and safely;
• coordinate efforts effectively during emergency situations.
As part of the project «Creation of a Public System of Fire Protection of Forests in Ukraine», implemented by the All-Ukrainian Environmental League with support from the U.S. Forest Service International Programs, special emphasis is placed on strengthening and supporting volunteer fire brigades in communities.
Leaders of volunteer fire brigades are a critical link in building a resilient, community-based emergency response system that ensures the effective protection of people, property, and natural resources.
